The Solar Plexus Center
The Solar Plexus center is found at the right hand side of bodygraph connecting to the root, sacral, heart and throat. It represents our transmutational power in its connection to the more subtle forms of energy existing in and around us. We are vessels of spirit involving and evolving matter and light around us. We are designed as master magicians of this plane. And our emotions are at the epicenter of cultivating this personal alchemy and power.
In Human Design, the Solar Plexus is commonly referred to as a "Motor" and "Awareness" center. But what does that mean for the solar plexus mechanically? The bodygraph holds 4 motors and 3 awareness centers. This is the only center that is both motor and awareness and moves energy throughout the physical body. More precisely moves spirit, feeling and frequency through out our systems.
Yang Awareness
The Solar Plexus is activated by the Pisces Heavenly Body where we observe the cooling mutation currently working its way through the collective. The energy received via Solar Plexus center has generally been recognized to hold an active, yang quality that powerfully intuits and manifests from what cannot be seen with the naked eye. And yet, as we speak this center is undergoing a massive shift into its mastery. Where we have seen the reactive destruction of its powerful flames, the truth of its creative potential is unfurling and undeniable. The same energy that destructs can also be utilized to create new worlds of regenerative forces. Moving from its motor quality towards its awareness quality.
The keyword we use for the Solar Plexus is "Truth". Truth is ever-evolving flowing in nature, translated by the felt experience of the sensible body. The Solar Plexus is not about asserting a singular Truth but about observing the Truth of Source that exists within us all. The Solar Plexus knows the Truth in each moment of our lives, which is now.
The Seat of Power
The Solar Plexus is physiologically correlated to our nervous system. In a world with an abundance of noise and stimulation, it’s no wonder that we are reactive, unaware and volatile. Because the SP is designed to move energy (motor center) in the body, it can also become overwhelmed. Our body tells us this in many different ways, overwhelm, anxiety, numbness, depression, avoidance - really any physical dis-ease that correlates to the nervous system, our physical senses and sleep cycles. When energy isn’t being processed and openly flowing it becomes stagnant or frenetic. Which then leads to disempowered depressive states where energy is miscarried or imploded. The body is so intelligent that it will begin operating in patterns that better support the hyper accentuation of energy or lack thereof.
In order for any of the 9 centers to operate optimally there must be an equal processing of energy. Inside the Solar Plexus, this can be metaphorically likened to water or fire. A wave, a “low”, an extreme, high stimulation, etc. Here we become aware of our energetic capacities. The amount of information or stimulation we can hold. The Solar Plexus needs a reciprocal expression of input and output. We are now accustomed in our busy worlds to take in large amounts of stimulus that our evolution is still catching up to. This excess stimulation requires the nervous system to slow down or numb itself in order to stay safe.
When we begin deconditioning, we will be invited to observe the patterns and capacities in our Solar Plexus which can be contextualized by the gate activations therein. If we seek to grow and expand our Solar Plexus’ capacities in our deconditioning, this can look like changing patterns of interaction with outside emotional stimulus.
Solar Plexus Development & Desire
The Solar Plexus corresponds to developmental ages 15-21 (give or take a few years) psychologically. This is the phase in life where we enter the causal plane of our soul’s desires. We are experimenting with life and taking chances, understanding our own personal power and the way in which we use it in the world around us. We can think back to and observe the obstacles that may have been present to us fully stepping into and owning our personal power. These are ways in which the emotional development process was shunted or delayed. We can still be operating with immature emotional systems. And our Solar Plexus awareness will activate us into emotional maturation that might have been delayed by earlier trauma or experiences as a teenager/young adult.
This is also the developmental time that we learn about our sexual and creative nature as a human. The Solar Plexus isn’t the place where the creation is being birthed, but it is the passionate life force that initiates and creates the impetus for co-creation in the Sacral. Our sexual/sensual natures show us where and what we desire to create in our realities. By interacting with our sensible bodies as a vessel of Truth, we receive and translate the message of the worlds that will be birthed through us as co-creative acts of life.
Our Sensual Bodies & The Moon
The Solar Plexus is intricately connected to the Moon and her tides. Truth then comes in cycles and waves, with new faces and different expressions each time. Connecting to your Lunar nature can help to navigate the spiralic nature of emotions, feelings, frequency and the unknown. When we have shut down and numbed out our senses, the onslaught of information in the awakening phase can be disconcerting. The moon helps us to be with what is present right now, watching as the tides wax and wan, over and over. Allowing us to be with the wave, instead of being thrashed around by it. The gift and teaching of the moon is to allow what is pass on by. We can engage our Lunar Bodies within our 5 senses. The moon is keynoted as “experience” or “gravity”. In this way signaling points of reference that are important to our synaesthetic experience with the living world. As we decondition, the sensual pleasures of our physical body can be grounding tools for expanding capacity on both ends of the emotional spectrum - highs and lows.
“By the scent of water alone,
the withered vine comes back to life,
and thus ... wherever the land is dry and hard,
you could be the water;
or you could be the iron blade
disking the earth open;
or you could be the 'acequia',
the mother ditch, carrying the water
from the river to the fields
to grow the flowers for the farmers;
or you could be the honest engineer
mapping the dams that must be taken down,
and those dams which could remain to serve
the venerable all, instead of only the very few.
You could be the battered vessel
for carrying the water by hand;
or you could be the one
who stores the water.
You could be the one who
protects the water,
or the one who blesses it,
or the one who pours it.
Or you could be the tired ground
that receives it;
or you could be the scorched seed
that drinks it;
or you could be the vine,
green-growing overland,
in all your wild audacity ...”
— You Could Be The Water, Clarissa Pinkola Estes
